Video
Video features prominently in AP’s storytelling. Identifiers such as names and locators, and narrative text can provide important additional information. These elements should appear with subtlety and consistency as in the examples below.

AP editorial video
AP editorial video consists of two formats: Newsroom Ready (NR) and Consumer Ready (CR).
NR video is semi-produced and unbranded, giving customers a selection of shots and the written editorial details they need to tell their own stories. CR video is fully produced and carries AP branding, providing customers with ready-to-use stories for their digital platforms.
Our AP Editorial Video Branding Style Guide is available here for AP staffers and requires login.

General layout considerations
In most cases a simple column grid is all that is needed to provide design structure for text and graphics that appear in videos. In the example the total width (1920) is divided by 12 to determine the size of the AP logo (160). The left and right margins are set at 1.5X or 1.5(160) which equals 240pt. A seven column grid is established using the 160pt width of the AP logo and evenly spaced and centered.
Text should be set within standard title safe guides.

The AP logo
The AP logo should appear in full-color, in the upper-left section of the frame for 3-4 seconds at the beginning of every video.

Locator
The locator is always left–justified and placed in the upper left corner within title safe guides.

Date
The date is always left–justified and placed in the upper left corner within title safe guides.

Locator and date
The locator and date are always left–justified and placed in the upper left corner within title safe guides. Consider a shift in font weight or size to differentiate the type.

AP logo and locator
Use only if the locator and/or date needs to appear on screen with the AP logo at the beginning of your video. Logo and locator are always left–justified within title safe guides.

Names are always left–justified and placed in the lower left corner within title safe guides.

Name and title

Two names
For two people on screen — names and/or titles — text is always left–justified for both names and placed in the lower left corner within title safe guides.

One line of text
Text is left-justified and placed in the lower left corner within title safe. Use AP Sans Medium for the type and a gradient scrim if needed for contrast. Avoid using drop shadows.
